The Batman Who Laughs…with an axe.
Bruce Wayne can play a guitar, DC fans. How?
No, not going to the obvious answer.
As part of the promotional junket for Scott Snyder‘s Dark Nights: Death Metal series, the trailer incorporates Marilyn Manson’s 1995 “Warship My Wreck.” Further, the partially-animated trailer incorporates The Batman Who Laughs not only attacking his doppelganger but wailing on a guitar!
But why Marilyn Manson?
The band’s former lead guitarist Tyler Bates, who co-wrote the song, provided the music for the first Metal series.
Here is the official synopsis:
“When the Earth is enveloped by the Dark Multiverse, the Justice League is at the mercy of the Batman Who Laughs. Humanity struggles to survive in a hellish landscape twisted beyond recognition, while Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman have all been separated and fight to survive. Unleash the beast and let the head banging begin!”
The first chapter of this saga prior to DC Rebirth saw the introduction of Barbatos and twisted versions of Batman from The Dark Multiverse. The popularity of this dimension has spawned numerous spinoffs. The most popular antagonist has been The Batman Who Laughs, Barbatos’s chief lieutenant. The series concluded Scott Snyder’s long run on Batman from the beginning of The New 52. The new series also incorporates the latest changes to Wally West, new host for the Moebius Chair and with Dr. Manhattan’s abilities.
