Well, DC FanDome most definitely saved the best for last!
If you had any reservations regarding The Batman, then now is the time to put them to rest. After a lengthy Q & A session, director Matt Reeves unveiled the first astonishing trailer for his gestating opus. And believe me, you must brace yourself for a take on the Caped Crusader that’s absolutely freaking brutal. I mean, just watch him beat the crap out of a street thug!
Fisticuffs aside, we can expect to see Batman’s detective skills showcased on film like never before. In my view, Reeves has a pretty firm grasp on the timeless icon and the world he inhabits, and is putting it all in a very realistic setting that doesn’t betray the comic books. I’m really digging what I see, my friends.
It’s also worth mentioning that with this story taking place in Bruce Wayne’s second year as the Caped Crusader, we should expect to see the supporting players still going through the motions of their respective origins. In other words, Selina Kyle isn’t quite Catwoman, Oz Cobblepot isn’t quite Penguin, and Edward Nashton is just emerging as the Riddler.
The Batman is scheduled to open in theaters on October 1st, 2021.
