Review: Batwoman 2×07 – “It’s Best You Stop Digging”

Summary
Ryan is still dealing with the kryptonite poisoning in her body, which is making her hallucinate. Meanwhile Alice makes some startling revelations about her past and her ties to Ocean.
Positives
Batwoman 2×07 finally answered a lot of questions I had throughout this season and I was satisfied with the outcome. Ryan struggles with hallucinations due to the kryptonite poisoning thats slowly creeping into her brain. In this hallucinations, Ryan sees her adopted mother and also Alice–her mother’s murderer. Overcome with anger and also due to the kryptonite, Ryan puts on the suit to find Alice and kill her once and for all. I enjoyed the encounter against Alice, and loved the reveal at the end of their fight. I think this may change their rivalry but in a good way in the future.
Negatives
I have no complaints about this episode. The action was great and although the story was a regular 40 minute episode, a lot happened within the episode itself that didn’t feel rushed like previous ones. Alice finally found her past with Ocean, and why Safiyah wanted to recruit her so bad. I’m thinking that writers now want to put Alice on a redeeming arc with her character. Honestly that wouldn’t be bad at all, but with Ryan wanting justice for herself and Mary I’m not sure how that will play out.
Verdict
Batwoman 2×07Â was a great episode and it was one that was definitely needed. Although Ryan spent most of it out of the suit, so much storytelling went on that you hardly notice it. Definitely looking forward to the next episode!
