Summary
Superman & Lois 4×08: Luthor challenges Lois to a live telecast debate, though not everything is as it seems; John Henry and Clark face a troubling possibility.
Positives
In this episode, we once again find Lex Luthor on the offensive, with a calculating plan to take on Lois and Clark once and for all. I enjoyed the special appearance of Tom Cavanagh as notorious talk show host Gordon Godfrey. Lex uses Godfrey’s show to tell his own version of events that happened in Smallville, and ends it with challenging Lois to a live debate on Godfrey’s show later that same evening.
I have to appreciate how Lex handled things in this episode. He didn’t attempt to attack Lois and Clark on some random street. Instead, he did it though the media, and through, apparently, a rival, at that. We finally see Michael Culditz in a powerful looking suit and tie, like the businessman that he is. With the stage set to challenge Lois, Lex seems ready for the debate with her, and, as predicted, Clark is with her as well.
Negatives
I have no complaints about this episode.
Verdict
Superman & Lois 4×08 was a great episode that showed us how manipulative Lex can be, especially on his home turf of Metropolis. A few revelations are made in this episode, particularly concerning the future of Superman and Clark Kent. With the assistance of John Henry Irons, Clark learns that his powers are slowly fading. It’s only a matter of time before Clark Kent is just a normal human. This reveal hits Clark hard, and once he tells his family, they all have a moment together. With Superman’s powers fading, and with Lex still on the offensive, one can only hope Superman can find a way to stop Lex before his powers are gone permanently.
