Summary
Coming to you live from Gotham City! The people’s-choice congressional candidate Luciana Alejo is all set to give a televised interview that could secure her victory, but the Cormorant is ready to silence her for good. Can Batgirl protect the candidate without making her alter ego, Barbara Gordon, lose her campaign job in the process?
Positives
The cover by Emanuela Lupacchino and Dave McCaig is cool. The bangs actually make the new costume look a little better. And I like that Batgirl is the only source of real color; that’s a nice touch.
The interior art is solid. The characters are expressive and the colors look nice. It’s a good looking book.
The conclusion is solid. I like that there’s still a mystery out and the one lead Babs had is taken away from her. It makes a practical argument for not killing the bad guy as well as a moral one. I like that element.
Negatives
The issue isn’t that interesting. Commissioner Gordon isn’t in the issue so that ideological conflict between father and daughter is absent. It’s just Batgirl saving a politician from a hit man. It’s fine and fun but not particularly captivating.
Verdict
This is a solid issue. It’s a fun and enjoyable read with good art. I liked the ending quite a bit but the issue as a whole didn’t grab me a whole lot.
