Batman: Soul of The Dragon takes fans back to the 70s with an awesome voice cast.
The next DC animated direct to video finds the Dark Knight in the age of disco and Kung Fu Fighting in a plot that is reminiscent of Bruce Lee’s claim to fame, Enter The Dragon. Here is a brief premise that explains the film to a point:
“The film is an original tale, rather than based on a specific comic book storyline. It sees Bruce Wayne face a deadly menace from his past, with the help of three former classmates: world-renowned martial artists Richard Dragon, Ben Turner, and Lady Shiva.”
Executive Produced by Bruce Timm (DCAU et al) with Director Sam Liu (Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox), this intriguing story brings with it a stellar voice cast. David Giuntolli (Grimm) will portray Batman/Bruce Wayne; Michael Jai White (Spawn, Arrow) will portray Ben Turner aka Bronze Tiger; Kelly Hu (Arrow, X2: X-Men United) will voice Lady Shiva; and finally Marc Dacascos (John Wick 3, Mortal Kombat: Legacy) will portray Richard Dragon. This will be Turner’s second stint as Ben Turner, as he played the live-action version on Arrow. Hu is also an Arrow alum, having portrayed villain China White in several appearances through the series. Richard Dragon also appeared on the series, although retconned as Season Seven surprise villain Ricardo Diaz. This will be Giuntolli’s first official entry into a DC animated film, as he replaces Jason O’Mara as the Dark Knight. O’Mara had portrayed Batman for every post-Flashpoint feature until its final chapter Justice League: Apokalips War.
