Summary
Mary’s personal struggles finally come to light–and everyone pays a price. Meanwhile, Sophie seeks vengeance for what happened to her sister Jordan, and Alice finally lets everyone in on her secret.
Positives
Batwoman 3×06 had quite a few revelations in its episode. Mary’s abduction in the park finally has its own reveal– she was infected by a plant of Poison Ivy. The signs have been there although in small ways throughout a few episodes–and it’s sad that no one noticed but Alice. When the bat family finally discovers that Mary is infected, it becomes a race against time to keep her safe until a cure is found. Alice uses this as a chance to be free of both Montoya and Batwoman and seeks to find a way to trigger Mary’s other personality of Poison Ivy.
Negatives
Sophie’s continued search of the Black Glove Society leaves her and Ryan now at odds. In the last episode, Ryan learned the truth about Jada Jet’s research into Freeze’s work, and how in some ways Ryan was wrong about the assumptions about her mother. Sophie however still feels that Jada Jet knew about Jordan’s disappearance and her experimentation–something that Ryan denies. I wish Ryan would tell Sophie everything that she knows about Jada, including Marquis’ sickness. I feel like it will come back to hurt Ryan at some point if she doesn’t. The pair have built up a strong sense of respect and trust throughout this season, and it would be horrible to have it fall apart.
Verdict
Batwoman 3×06 was a decent episode but I really wish Ryan was honest with Sophie about her Jada’s intentions. Mary ends up going against the bat family and begins to make her own plans. Alice joins Mary in tow, but I wonder how long will Mary as Poison Ivy let Alice truly live? Alice is responsible for murdering Mary’s mother in season one after all.
