Official Film Rating Released
The certificate for the movie has now been confirmed as ‘PG-13’ for “strong violent and disturbing content, drug content, strong language, and some suggestive material.” This usually translates into a 12A or 15 in the UK, contrary to the rumors that The Batman would be targeted at more mature audiences and receive an ‘R’ rating.
Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) is directing the latest film featuring the Dark Knight. Following big names such as Christopher Nolan and Tim Burton, fans will be desperate to see the latest incarnation of the character, together with Zoe Kravitz’s portrayal of Catwoman.
The actress gave an interview with AnotherMag and gave her thoughts on the project and working with Reeves:
[The fans] are [hardcore], and because I respect them so much I chose not to think about them when making the movie. If I’m thinking about wanting everyone to like it and wanting all the fans to like it, I’m not going to actually bring a real person to life.
Matt wrote a really interesting story with a complex character, and the relationships are really interesting. All I wanted to do was honour that story.
The first big DC movie release of the year is just around the corner and will begin a huge year of content. Along with The Batman, the 2022 release schedule will also include Black Adam and The Flash. It’ll be interesting to see if these movies intertwine, as The Batman is seemingly a stand-alone project, apart from other DCEU films.
