Ever since Zack Snyder made the announcement, at last year’s San Diego Comic Con, that his next DC Â film would be a Batman/Superman film, rumors have been flooding the internet about plot details, casting, suit changes, and much more.
Well, recently some news has hit, which I will consider rumor until an official reveal is made. Â A source at Batman-News reported spotting Jesse Eisenberg shooting scenes on the LexCorp set and says Superman’s archenemy is NOT sporting the iconic bald head that he’s known for. Â His hairstyle is described as “a bit longer, kind of loose and wavy, and it’s dirty blonde”, which is definitely not the classic Eisenberg curly brown locks.
The source also says that Eisenberg’s Luthor “has spastic mannerisms, like a 20-something guy that pounds energy drinks all day.” Â This makes it sound like they’re going for a Zuckerberg feel, which I assumed would happen when his casting was announced.
These scenes being filmed are said to be taking place near the beginning of the film, which means Luthor may eventually be shown with his iconic “chrome dome” in the film (although, I would be totally alright with it if he didn’t).
Batman-News also went on to say that the insides of the LexCorp building features “a basketball court in the lobby with a giant 30 foot neon LexCorp Industries sign”, which sounds very Google-esque to me.
In other casting news, Holly Hunter and Tao Okamoto, who were announced as being cast back in April, may have finally had their roles revealed.
The original rumor pegged Hunter’s character as “Leslie Thompkins, or a Leslie Thompkins replacement character,” but now it’s being reported that she will be playing a U.S. Senator. Â What role she’ll have in the overall story is still unknown.
ComicBook.com is reporting that Tao Okamoto, who you may remember from her film debut as Mariko Yashida in last year’s The Wolverine, is rumored to be taking on the role of Lex Luthor’s smart, cunning, bad-ass assistant/bodyguard, Mercy.  This character originated on Superman: The Animated Series in 1996, but has made her way into the comics.
None of these rumors have been officially revealed by the studio, so take them with a grain of salt. Â But if they are true, what are you thoughts? Â Would you be alright with a Lex Luthor with a full head of hair? Â How do you feel about Okamoto as Mercy? Â Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
