Lucifer receives a full series greenlight from Fox, according to the show’s newly launched Twitter account. The new show is Fox’s second DC Entertainment series, following the hit show Gotham. Tom Ellis (Rush) stars in the title role of Lucifer. In the new series, Lucifer is bored and unhappy as the ruler of Hell. He abandons his kingdom in favor of Los Angeles. Lauren German (Chicago Fire) costars as LAPD homicide detective, Chloe Dancer. German tweeted:
So proud & happy to announce that @LuciferonFOX has been picked up. I’m thrilled to be working with such lovely talented brilliant fun folk!

The Lucifer character was introduced in Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, a Vertigo comic book published by DC Comics. Gaiman tweeted:
I watched the LUCIFER pilot & suspect the show will become a guilty pleasure for a lot of people. Tom Ellis plays L like a sexymadbadDrWho.

The Vertigo character had a 75 issue run in his own self-titled Sandman spin-off comic.  Lucifer is from Warner Bros. TV, DC Comics, and Jerry Bruckheimer Television.
