Through some concept art on the set of the upcoming WB/DC film, Justice League, came the confirmation of Willem Dafoe’s role in the heroic ensemble film. Dafoe will be suiting up as one of Aquaman’s biggest supporting characters — Vulko.
Created by Bob Haney and Howard Purcell, Vulko is an Atlantean politician and a mentor to Aquaman. He offers level and sound advice in time of crisis and lives as the city’s oldest dignitary. Prior to Aquaman’s rule, Nuidis Vulko was around for his birth. He argued against the curse of Kordax and refused to abandon Aquaman.
How large of a role will Dafoe’s Vulko play in Justice League? That is still unknown, but he will have a full-on royal Atlantean costume when he appears in the film and will likely go on to appear in the standalone Aquaman film in 2018.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, this marks the big screen debut of the Justice League, featuring an all-star lineup: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.
Justice League is set to hit theaters on November 17, 2017.
