Summary
Corum Rath continues his tyrannical rule over Atlantis by having his soldiers, the Drift, round-up all Outcasts — Atlanteans with a mutation. Aquaman has found an ally in a silent, female Outcast named Dolphin. She leads Aquaman to some others she knows who could help.
Meanwhile, using her aquakinetic abilities, a very angry Mera begins an all-out assault on the enchanted walls isolating Atlantis.
Positives
Sejic’s artwork is stunning and compliments the storyline wery well. Corum Rath continues to be a very interesting antagonist that makes me excited for his eventual showdown with Aquaman. But the highlight of this issue is seeing Mera attack the enchanted walls known as the Crown of Thorns. Her loyalty and commitment to Aquaman are only matched by her sheer power.
Negatives
It’s hard to pinpoint a negative, but if anything, then it’s the political undertones that still bug me a little bit, but to be honest it actually does work in this issue.
Verdict
Another excellent issue. The pacing, the artwork, the new characters, everything works really well in this issue. I highly recommend this one, and I’m very much looking forward to the next issue.
