The DC comic-book villain Plastique is set to appear in the first season of the CW’s The Flash. Plastique,  created by Gerry Conway and Pat Broderick, was introduced in 1982 in The Fury of Firestorm #7 as a terrorist who attempted a suicide bombing of a newspaper, but was then foiled by the title character. Genetic engineering gave her the ability to project explosive force from her body. She became Captain Atom’s enemy and love interest and also a member of the Suicide Squad. She was reintroduced in DC’s New 52 as an enemy of Firestorm and a member of the Secret Society of Super Villains.

TVLine describes Plastique, also known by her civilian alter-ego Sgt. Bette Sans Souci, as:

…a fetching young redhead who was a bomb specialist with the Army before she was injured by an IED in Iraq. Since being exposed to the Central City explosion, she can turn any object into a bomb with just a touch of her hand.

The character appeared in an episode from Smallville in its eighth season, played by Jessica Parker Kennedy.
