Last week we learned that Shazam will go into production early next year, with an aim for a 2019 release, but there were some conflicting reports as to whether or not Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would still star as the villain. Yahoo caught up with DC Films president Geoff Johns for an answer.
“We haven’t announced any casting yet,” Johns said. “But Dwayne isn’t going to be in this movie. He’s still doing Black Adam, but he won’t be in Shazam.”
So there you have it. The Rock won’t be in Shazam, and instead will star in his own Black Adam movie which will probably set up a Shazam vs. Black Adam fight for a future movie.
