Warner Bros. Developing ‘Blue Beetle’

Warner Bros. ever changing slate of potential DC adaptations has just added Blue Beetle to the list.

DC Comics has really been pushing for people to accept the Jaime Reyes version over the Ted Kord Blue Beetle for some time now. He has appeared in Young Justice, Batman Brave and Bold and even Smallville. It seems this movie is continuing that approach. Writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer and producer Zev Foreman are planning to bring Reyes to the big screen. Fortunately, that doesn’t mean Ted Kord can’t make an appearance since the two have worked together in the comics.

For a time, there were plans for a Booster Gold and Blue Beetle film that would have featured Ted Kord. It was going to be produced and possibly directed by Greg Berlanti. But after the disappointing box office of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Warner Bros. made changes, then after the flop of Justice League Warner Bros. once again made more changes (of course they never changed the common denominator of their failures). After all those changes and this announcement, it’s safe to assume that movie was scrapped.

As of now the current DC slate is Shazam, Birds of Prey, and The Batman with word that Green Lantern Corps, Nightwing, Harley Quinn/Joker and Batgirl were still projects being developed.

But being Warner Bros. don’t get too excited. One under performing film and they will simply change everything again.
