Pennyworth will be returning late next year with a new round of episodes. The first season has been received well by both critics and fans alike.

After an action packed season finale, Pennyworth will be returning for the fall season of 2020 on Epix. DC and Warner Horizon Media announced that production of 10 episodes will begin in January.

Epix President Michael Wright spoke about the success of Pennyworth in a recent statement:

Pennyworth’ has been a big hit for us, embraced by critics and fans alike. It was the highest-performing original series ever to premiere on Epix, more than doubling the viewership of the shows that came before it. Bruno Heller, Danny Cannon and WBTV have delivered a brilliant, must watch series. We can’t wait to work with this phenomenal cast and creative team on another exciting season.”

Pennyworth is a show that follows Alfred Pennyworth long before he became a butler to Batman. The show focuses on Pennyworth during his time as an SAS agent in 1960’s London.

The show features Alfred, played by Jack Bannon (Ripper Street), and Thomas Wayne, played by Ben Aldridge (Fleabag). Alfred works for young billionaire Thomas Wayne in a security capacity.

In addition to Bannon and Aldridge, the Season 1 cast includes Emma Paetz (Gentleman Jack) as Martha Kane, Ryan Fletcher (Shetland) and Hainsley Lloyd Bennett (Eastenders) as Alfred’s cohorts Dave Boy and Bazza, Dorothy Atkinson (Harlots) and Ian Puleston-Davies (Coronation Street) as Alfred’s parents, recording artist Paloma Faith and Polly Walker (Rome) as Bet Sykes and her sister Peggy, and Jason Flemyng (Jamestown) as Lord Harwood.

The series is produced and written by Executive Producer Bruno Heller. Danny Cannon also serves as Executive Producer as well as director. The show is based on DC Comics characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger.

Pennyworth season 2 premieres in 2020.
