Batwoman Introduces The Joker’s Daughter To The Arrowverse

Even in its relative infancy, Batwoman has introduced a fair share of characters to The CW’s Arrowverse which viewers had previously yet to meet. In fact, the most recent episode to air, “Grinning Ear to Ear,” let loose one young lady I hadn’t quite expected to show up.

Long story short, the psychopath with a penchant for cutting people teased by trailers actually wound up being Duela Dent. Readers of comic books will know her better as the Joker’s Daughter (no, she isn’t actually the clown’s offspring), though the interpretation we got was more so influenced by the one that’s been around since the earlier days of the New 52.

Of course, she was never outright referred to as “the Joker’s Daughter,” but we all know what they were getting at. She may not have been wearing the Joker’s face as a mask, but her attire did line up with what was found in the aforementioned era of comics. Actually, her face was removed near the end of the episode, so she could wear her own visage as a mask in subsequent appearances – should the producers elect to grant her a recurring role.

Also worth mentioning is how it was revealed that Duela is, in fact, related to Harvey Dent. Furthermore, Harvey was referred to as being a beloved ADA (Assistant District Attorney). Based on that, we can probably conclude that he’s yet to become Two-Face – and that leaves an opening for a future villain for this series. Well, he’ll likely be off the table if Matt Reeves decides to include the character in one of his own Batman movies, but time will tell.
