Summary

Batwoman 2×04 – While investigating the disappearance of a young boy, Ryan Wilder comes to terms with her own haunting past. Meanwhile Sophie and Alice make a temporary, but tense alliance in order to find and rescue Kate Kane.

Positives

Batwoman 2×04 starts us off with Ryan as Batwoman chasing down a criminal in the streets of Gotham. Using the new Batmobile to her advantage, she quickly takes down the thug. Later at the cave, she finds out about a new organization vying for control of Gotham–the False Face society. The organization has a talent for recruiting young people, especially orphans. This alone makes Ryan visit some dark parts of her past, and forces her to come to terms with them.

Negatives

My only issue with this episode has to be with Alice and her intentions with finding Kate Kane. Apparently Kate is still alive and Sophie and Alice have joined forces in an attempt to find her. This uneasy alliance is made even more complicate when Luke Fox shows up at Sophie’s apartment while Alice is there. Alice has no intention of changing herself for the better, and it seems she only wants to find her sister Kate so she can kill her finally. That in itself was a huge letdown for me. I thought that Alice would have some sort of redeeming character arc here, especially with Kate being gone. Instead we’re left with an Alice whom outside of Kate has no real enemy.

Verdict

“Fair Skin, Blue Eyes” was a good episode. Ryan finally has learned some use of the batsuit properly, and her determination to set things right with or without the suit is amazing. This episode really shows us how dedicated she was to justice even before finding the suit.
