Summary
The Conjuring: The Lover #3 hits readers with its first glance at the cover. And to be fair, it could be any of the covers that would catch your eye. Jess was just not able to catch a break in the previous issue, and that is where the entity wants her. After the events that transpired, Jess finds herself with her roommate Tammy in front of the Dean.
No Tears Left To Cry
Once Tammy figures out that the Dean plans to do nothing about the attack, she immediately moves out leaving Jess alone in her room. The entity wastes no time and immediately sets it’s sights on the remnants of Jess’s sanity. It begins to appear everywhere, clawing and scratching at the last of Jess’s reserve.
She tries to reach out to Katie but to no avail. Jess pulls herself together and becomes determined to find out what is happening to her. But a terrifying encounter at the library leads to the realization that ” The demon has been promised a soul and can’t go back to hell without one”. A call to her Mother ends in failure and with the illusions being cemented more in her reality a chance outing with Kyle may end in murder.
A Limited Time Sale
As expected with The Conjuring: The Lover #3 we get amazing ads for “Possessed Peggy“, only $6.66 each with vomit sold separately, as well as a delicious-sounding bowl of Arsenic Frosted Oat Cereal with demon mellows.
But as stated in prior reviews, my favorite part is always the Tales From the Artifact Room. A tale that is especially tantalizing because we get the tale of “The Accordion Monkey“. A toy that fans of the series are used to seeing. This story reminds me of the movies “The Omen” and it is definitely worth the admission price.
Positives
These teams have provided readers with chills and thrills around each corner and as the series continues, we edge closer to the Demon’s true goals for Jess. The artwork is full of grisly and grim imagery. This art continues whether you are reading through the tale or looking at the macabre ads or reading the main and side stories.
Negatives
None that I see.
Verdict
The Conjuring: The Lover #3 continues the harrowing journey of Jess as the Demon continues its onslaught mercilessly to get the soul it wants to claim for Hell. Whether these endeavors will be successful remains to be seen.
