Positives
Kevin Smith takes on Hollywood. Just because your life is on display doesn’t mean Hollywood should make a movie from it! Hit-Girl is still a little girl and somethings are out of bounds….particularly her father’s death!
The casting couch in Hollywood…Smith takes on sexual advances by producers (a very topical subject) and does what every actress in Hollywood wishes they could do to the studio heads that abused their power over young women! Lew Brothsteen represents….well…you know. And boy does he get whats coming to him. Or rather loses what he needs! And not at the hands or rather blade of Hit-Girl. Life imitates art and maybe art will imitate life. Time will tell!
Bad jokes abound. Agent Green and Agent Orange with the FBI. A Private Room with a person with no “privates”. Lots of groans, but it breaks up the cutting, piercing, chopping and killing that is only in a Hit-Girl comic!

Kevin Smith, a major player in the comic book world now, provides the homage to his heroes, takes on the real world villains in Hollywood, and provides an entertaining story line of revenge, team-ups, and exploitation.
Negatives
Issue #1 of the trade paperback is silent. I love a good story and Hit Girl delivers, but an entire episode where only one or two phrases are delivered disappoints when you are an avid reader. The pictures are worth 1000 words, but one still wants to be challenged.
If you are conservative a bit in your thinking, be fore warned that language, graphic jokes, severed pieces of anatomy, and a character title or two may offend. However, if you saw the movie Kick-Ass, you know what you are in store for!
Verdict
I’m a Kevin Smith fan and I like the direction he is taking the Hit-Girl comic. She is part Deadpool…well she is really all Deadpool as she is a killer character. And there is no softness to this young lady. The art of Pernille Ørum leads one to think this is a Disney type of character ala Kim Possible. However, this is an edgy comic. Be forewarned…Hit-Girl delivers a pretty lethal punch!
