DC has canceled the upcoming Absolute Edition of Batman: Gotham By Gaslight.
No reason for the cancelation was provided, though the book “will be solicited again in a different format.” The Absolute Edition was announced in December, for a September 2020 release.
This follows a recent pattern of DC cancelations, which has seen multiple Absolute and Omnibus editions announced and then pulled — later to be resolicited in trade paperback format.
Meanwhile, fans of the story still have the original graphic novel and the animated movie.
The original solicitation for the Absolute Edition reads as follows:
ABSOLUTE GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT HC
Written by BRIAN AUGUSTYN and JEFF PARKER
Art by MIKE MIGNOLA, P. CRAIG RUSSELL, EDUARDO BARRETO, GREG TOCCHINI, and EVAN “DOC” SHANER
