Everyone has been curious as to how Batman is going to fit into the Suicide Squad film. The internet has had photos leaked of Batman pretty much since the beginning so it’s always been a question of how much are we going to see of him.
This is something that Charles Roven producer of Suicide Squad had to wrestle with while doing his filming in Toronto, and said this:
Well we had to make a choice of do we shoot the movie or don’t we shoot the movie? Do we tell the story we want to tell and block the streets off so the people of Toronto don’t see anything? We just said, ‘OK you’re gonna see what you’re gonna see.’ But he has purpose for what he’s doing, and you couldn’t tell the story of the Suicide Squad—as you mentioned so many of the characters that are in that squad had some interaction with him in order to get into Belle Reve, so you have to deal with that at the very least.
David Ayer, director of the film, goes on to talk about how Suicide Squad will get to portray Batman from a new perspective. Plus how he has some role in the characters to which they have ended up in the movie. An example of this is how in Deadshot’s character sketches there were the words “Die Bat” on his cell walls as seen by Adam Chitwood during a visit to the set of Suicide Squad. David Ayer also had this to say to help explain the new perspective.
All the Batman movies have been from Batman’s point of view. He’s the good guy. He’s the hero of his own movie in all the movies we’ve seen. If you look at what Bruce Wayne has done in creating the Batman persona, his idea was to terrorize criminals. It’s sort of psychological warfare against criminals. This wraith that comes in the night and attacks and pulls criminals from society. For the first time, we’re seeing Batman from the point of view of the criminals and he’s freaking scary.
Man, I am super excited to see how scary they make Batman in contrast to how we normally see him. I mean we all know some fun scenes where Batman scares the crap out of the bad guys and you almost feel bad about them. Then you remember they’re the bad guys. Still this new take on Batman and how they put the team together in Suicide Squad.
