Part of writer Brian Michael Bendis’ exclusive deal with DC Comics will involve launching a brand new “pop-up” imprint in the style of Gerard Way’s Young Animal line.
Details are scarce, but the line will involve multiple titles, and feature at least a few established DC heroes alongside brand new creations.
“I will be hosting and curating an imprint, a custom imprint not unlike what Gerard Way is doing with [DC imprint] Young Animal,” Bendis told Forbes. “It’s going to be a select series of special comics, and we’ll debut what those are later in the year. I’ll be writing some of those and curating the others, but they’ll all be under this imprint and add a very special flavor to the DC Universe. I’m happy to say it will star some of my all-time favorite DC characters in unique situations, and that I could not be more excited for.”
Way launched Young Animal in 2016, the first of these so-called “pop-up” imprints in which multiple titles are spearheaded by a single creative voice.
No timeframe for the launch of Bendis’ unnamed imprint has been announced. The imprint is unconnected to Bendis’ Jinxworld line of creator-owned titles, which will also be published through DC under the deal.
