Jared Leto’s unique persona of the Joker was brought to life in the Suicide Squad feature film, and the plans from there was that he was going to embark on multiple projects to extend the character’s time on-screen. However now with Joaquin Phoenix taking centre stage as the Joker in his own solo film, Warner Bros have put the brakes on Leto’s plans. His time as the Joker could be in fact concluding.

With rumours reporting that Leto’s behaviour on set being difficult to handle, coupled with mixed reviews of the film it is hard to see how that character will continue on the big screen. Warner Bros. could now be changing direction and embarking down the path of their new Joker film (with Phoenix).

James Gunn has come in as the new producer of the next Suicide Squad film, and with that both the Joker and Harley Quinn are likely to sit this one out as it may be a soft reboot of the first film.

Phoenix’s Joker has a very low-budget of around 55 million, given that Warner Bros could be in a good position to draw in a larger than expected profit.
