Warner Bros. is in another pickle when it comes to the release of Wonder Woman 1984. The film has been pushed back multiple times due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The latest had the film due to hit theaters on Christmas, but with COVID cases skyrocketing that may not materialize. It seems Warner Bros. is considering possibly pushing the film back to summer 2021. Or releasing it on the HBO Max streaming service in January after a smaller theatrical run. Wonder Woman 1984 is practically the dictionary definition of a block buster, so you can’t fault Warner Bros. for wanting to maximize returns for the film. On the other hand fans are dying to see the next chapter in the Wonder Woman saga. A limited theatrical release could still support exhibitors on the edge of collapse, while also boosting subscriber growth for HBO Max, which has struggled to build an audience large enough to compete against Netflix, Amazon, and Disney Plus.
Fingers crossed that no matter how, we will see Wonder Woman 1984 soon!
