Yes, The Flash movie is happening!  Recently, so much has been revealed that it has the movie and DC community excited!  What do we know about the “scarlet speedster” coming to the big screen?!

The Flash movie is bigger than its name might suggest.  It may seem low-key, but it’s probably going to be the biggest DCEU movie this side of the Snyder Cut.  That’s because it will be the big reset for the world of DC movies.

Cast & Crew

The movie will be a family event for Andy Muschietti and his sister, Barbara.  Andy will be directing the movie while Barbara will be one of the directors.  Barbara will be joined by Geoff Johns.  The Muschiettis are known for It and It: Chapter II .  They also have their own production company,  Double Dream, and will be joined by Zack and Deborah Snyder.  The Snyders will be serving as executive producers.

The current cast venue for the movie is as follows; Ezra Miller ( Justice League, Fantastic Beasts) ,  Ben Affleck ( Justice League, Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice) , Michael Keaton ( Batman, Batman Returns) , Ron Livingston ( Office Space, Band Of Brothers ) , Kiersey Clemons ( Flatliners, Antebellum ) , Maribel Verdú ( Pan’s Labyrinth ) , Sasha Calle ( The Young and the Restless ) , and Rudy Mancuso.  Ezra Miller will return as Barry Allen/The Flash;  Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton will both play Batman/Bruce Wayne ;  Ron Livingston will play Henry Allen;  Kiersey Clemons will play Iris West;  Maribel Verdú will play Nora Allen;  Sasha Calle will play Supergirl; and Rudy Mancuso in a tba role.

Movie Logo

To celebrate the start of production, director Andy Muschietti shared an animation that reveals The Flash movie’s rather electric logo.

Movie Premise

The Flash movie would follow the Flashpoint storyline – based on the hit crossover event from the comics in 2011. In the source material, Barry makes the decision to travel back in time so that he can try and prevent his mother’s murder, and while he winds up being successful, the Butterfly Effect/Chaos Theory results in the future being totally altered (for example, Bruce Wayne winds up getting killed in an alley behind a movie theater, and it results in Thomas Wayne becoming Batman while Martha Wayne goes insane and becomes The Joker).

Movie Release Date

No matter how fast we want The Flash‘s production to proceed, it’s still going to be a bit of a wait. The film is scheduled for a Nov. 4, 2022 release.

Movie Score

The movie score will be done by composer Benjamin Wallfisch, Mortal Kombat (2021).

Movie Trailer

There are no active movie trailers yet as the movie is still in development.

The History of the Flash

The first appearance of the Flash was in Flash Comics #1 (January 1940).  The character was created by Gardner Fox and Harry Lampert.  There have been several actors that have played him in cartoon and tv shows.  These actors include Grant Gustin,  John Wesley Shipp,  Michael Rosenbaum, Ezra Miller, Alan Tudyk,  Kyle Gallner, Jack Angel, Josh Keaton, Kenny Johnston, Neil Patrick Harris, Adam Devine, Justin Chambers, and Will Wheaton.  The most popular versions of  the superhero have been Jay Garrick, Wally West, and Barry  Allen.  The supposed origin of the Flash and his powers was that he ( Barry Allen) had been struck by a bolt of lightning.  The powers and abilities include moving, thinking , and reacting at light speeds as well as having superhuman endurance that allows him to run incredible distances.  The Flash  can vibrate so fast that he can pass through walls in a process called quantum tunneling.  He can travel through time and can also lend and borrow speed.  He can also heal more rapidly than an average human.  In addition, he also has an invisible aura around his body that protects him from air friction and the kinetic effects of his powers.

Until we get to see him on the big screen, you can follow the “scarlet speedster” on DC Universe Infinite and catch some of his  screen appearances on HBO Max.
