Summary

When Ryan makes “Gotham’s 30 Under 30 List”, she has a field day full of reporters and interviews asking questions about the new CEO of Wayne Industries. However, an icy chill continues to blow into town as Mr. Freeze’s technology continues to terrorize the city. This time terrorizing someone close to Ryan and Sophie.

Positives

Batwoman 3×04 – “Antifreeze” continues where our previous episode “Freeze” leaves off. The episode starts with an unknown man waking up to his body slowly being thawed from ice. Attempting to get up from his chair, the man’s legs shatter from under him. Falling on the floor and crashing into pieces, a man known only as Virgil makes a recording about the incident. It was interesting to see how all of this would tie into Ryan especially with her being so busy with the press in this episode. We finally get to see the billionaire CEO side of Ryan–and she looks great doing it. Marquis once again extends the olive branch of cooperation to Ryan once again–and she declines. However it seems its too late. Jada Jet has already placed things in motion to make Wayne Enterprises stock fall tremendously, and the shareholders want Ryan gone immediately.

Negatives

My only issue in this episode was Jada’s ongoing feud with her daughter Ryan. I don’t understand how a mother would attempt to undermine her daughter’s own success in such a way. I know it’ll get explained at some point in a future episode, and I’ll be looking forward to it. Ryan and Sophie seem to be getting a bit closer as well, and I’m thinking a relationship will spark between the two. The two are alike in some ways with their strong wills and determination to help others, and Ryan’s help with saving Jordan, Sophie’s sister made them just a little closer by the episode’s end it seemed. Jordan was frozen by Virgil, who attempted to silence Sophie from outing the Black Glove Society at the event. Jordan is saved at the episode’s end, but it only emboldens Sophie and Ryan to find out more about this secretive organization.

Verdict

Batwoman 3×04 was a good episode that leaves you wanting your questions answered immediately. What’s Ryan’s fate as CEO of Wayne Enterprises? Why does Jada want Ryan destroyed? I had more questions myself at the end when it’s revealed that apparently Jada herself was behind the attacks carried out by Virgil. As Jada sits back realizing her plans are coming into fruition, she sets her sights on a new target– her own son Marquis Jet.
