Fans of Doom Patrol and Titans were treated to a panel at NYCC 2022!
The Doom Patrol cast came on stage first, with cast members Brendan Fraser (Cliff Steele), Joivan Wade (Victor Stone), Michelle Gomez (Madame Rouge) and April Bowlby (Rita Farr) coming on stage. It’s been quite the renaissance for Fraser lately and he got a standing ovation from the appreciative crowd.
Rita became leader of the group in season 3, and Season 4 will continue to explore that arc .
April Bowlby:
“You’ll see, she gets a little pushy. She wants to be a professional about it… and she’s back to square one.”
The actress also noted:
“I’m really proud of Rita. She is great in the role, she has a superhero costume…I think she loves it.”
Bowbly also mentioned in the press roundtable how excited she is to get a superhero costume.
Speaking of excited, Michelle Gomez is thrilled that she gets a time machine, since she never got her own in Doctor Who. Fraser, on the other hand is more practical
Not to lie, I’m just kinda glad to have a job. It’s a pretty good job too. It’s a good gig, I love the dialogue…the copious use of F-bombs.
Wade talked of his experience as a child, not being able to find a black superhero toy and how important it for kids to have Cyborg to look up to. They showed a trailer for season 4. The best part being a bunch of walking butts singing Shipoopi from Music Man.
Doom Patrol Season 4 will debut December 8, 2022.
The Titans team took the stage next. Brenton Thwaites (Nightwing), Ryan Potter (Beast Boy), Joshua Orpin (Superboy) and showrunner Greg Walker. Anna Diop (Starfire) couldn’t make the panel, but she did pre-record a message for the crowd where she revealed that season 4 of Titans will drop on November 3, 2022.
This season will also introduce some new locations. Specifically, Metropolis. Not only will Baron Blood be the big bad, we will also get to see Lex Luthor.
Titans showrunner, Greg Walker:
We are showing the Daily Planet. We have built the Lex tower…and we do build S.T.A.R. Labs.
According to Potter, Gar will transform into animals we haven’t seen yet, including half transformations.
The audience also got to see two clips from the new season. One in an RV that also introduced “chaotic neutral” character, Jinx. Another showed the team facing off against Mother Mayhem.
There’s so much to look forward to from both shows!
