Review Roundup 11/30/16: DC New Talent Showcase #1

It’s Wednesday, which means another round of comic book reviews. This week is rather special, because DC has published a new anthology of sorts from the graduates of the DC Comics Writers Workshop program. This annual book is a product of the recently established Talent Development department, which is comprised of a writer’s workshop led by Scott Snyder (writer, All-Star Batman, Batman and Robin: Eternal) and an artist workshop led by Klaus Janson (artist, Dark Knight III: The Master Race) and Jim Lee (artist, Suicide Squad, Superman Unchained).

DC Comics was kind enough to provide us with an advance copy to review for DC Comics News, featuring nine stories by nine different teams of new and current talent, stepping out of their comfort zones to bring you new and interesting stories. From the DC Comics website:

In this new one-shot, Wonder Woman unleashes her true god of war against a parade of monsters! Superman discovers a new threat that might be bigger and badder than The Joker himself! Hawkgirl solves crimes in the weird weapons unit for the GCPD! Carol Ferris and Kyle Rayner fight about ice cream in space! You’ll find all of this and so much more in NEW TALENT SHOWCASE #1, where recent graduate writers from the inaugural DC Talent Development workshop showcase some of their strongest work yet!

We’ve decided to write nine separate critiques from our crack team of dedicated reviewers, but instead of making you track them down, we’re putting links right here for you to find! Check out each review below, and then share your thoughts with us in the comments and on social media after you get your copy.
